Community service medical officer in a rural district hospital where I gained invaluable experience in a variety of areas including accident and emergency, out patient clinics, paediatrics, maternal health, management of COVID 19 inpatients, and management of surgical, medical, orthopedic and psychiatric inpatients. Working in this environment exposed me to the challenges of rural medicine in South Africa, giving me the opportunity to work both independently and in a team,which helped me to develop my clinical skills and decision making.
