I, along with a research partner, conducted an in-depth analysis of the movement to legalize abortion in Ireland and Northern Ireland and concluded that there had been little discussion of the strategic and tactical messaging used by activists. We applied for and received a fully funded grant through a competitive selection process to conduct interviews across Ireland and Northern Ireland. Our interviewees ranged from grassroots organizers to world-renowned activists. While each interview revealed new information about the intersections of abortion and other cultural forces such as the Church or "The Troubles," each pointed to a larger trend: abortion can be legalized when activists message empathy towards the electorate. Our interviews are currently being used to co-author a paper.

I served as a research assistant for Dr. Kelly Bauer as she worked to publish a paper about human security in Venezuela. I compiled quotes from public officials by reading the minutes of UN meetings and different news outlets. I also assisted Dr. Bauer in her research on non-citizen voting in the United States and South America by examining governmental reports and laws. After evaluating these reports and laws, I summarized the relevant information and recommended which areas of study would prove to be most dynamic for the publication of a paper.
