Studying engineering has shown me how creating new products & systems can help others in ways that we alone cannot & can redefine what we consider to be possible. I chose to major in Bioresource & Agriculture Engineering because of the diverse set of skills the program offers, allowing me to solve multifaceted problems presented in hands-on projects inside & outside of the classroom. Building upon what I learned during my time as an Academy of Engineering student at Rancho Campana High School, I continue to learn about aspects of civil, electrical, mechanical, & biological engineering & how to apply them. Outside of class settings, I have learned that solving problems means identifying their root causes & understanding how they interconnect. My goal is to collaborate with others to develop sustainable systems & products to mitigate humankind’s impact on the environment, creating a better future not only for wildlife but for all life. Being a member & eventually a leader of hydroponic projects on campus made me realize there is an immense capacity for positive change in how food & natural resources are grown, processed, & managed.
