Fueled by national service, City Year partners with public schools in 29 urban, high-need communities across the U.S. and through international affiliates in the U.K. and Johannesburg, South Africa. Diverse teams of City Year AmeriCorps members provide research-based student, classroom and school-wide supports to help students stay in school and on track to graduate from high school, ready for college and career success. A 2015 study shows that schools that partner with City Year were up to 2-3 times more likely to improve on math and English assessments. City Year Columbus was established in 1994, with a startup corps of 40 strong. Today, 62 AmeriCorps members are deployed in 7 Columbus City Schools serving as student success coaches. These coaches work as tutors and mentors implementing CYCO's Whole School, Whole Child program in some of the city's most under-resourced schools. For the 2019-20 school year, Columbus AmeriCorps members will provide targeted interventions to over 600 students across its ABC intervention areas of Attendance, Behavior, and Course performance in English Language Arts (ELA) and Math. In this role Tasha serves as the primary leader, internal manager, strategist, external champion, and builder of the Columbus site. Develops and leads CYCO's annual and long-term strategy and priorities. Assumes ultimate oversight and responsibility for executing fiscally-sound budgeting, forecasting, expense management, resource allocations and cash flow within an annual operating budget of $2.9 million. Advances the site goals, serving as the public face of CYCO by representing the organization and the cause to key stakeholders in the local, national community including private sector funders and sponsors. -
