Previous title: Director of Community & BelongingIn this role, I oversee initiatives designed to create a welcoming environment for students; lead the planning and implementation of multicultural programs and events; advise and support student advocacy groups; work collaboratively across the university to support the recruitment, retention, success, and graduation of diverse and underrepresented student populations; and assist in planning events for and supporting students in the UNCSA Posse Scholarship Program. Some of the signature programs will include support for POSSE and Artists of Color students, celebration months and Artist Abroad. The establishment of the Office of Intercultural Engagement (OIE) is the university’s first-ever office with full-time employees solely dedicated to Equity, Diversity, Inclusion, and Belonging. To assist in meeting the goals outlined in UNCSA Forward (the institution's strategic plan), OIE will have a two-pronged approach, to provide educational opportunities for the UNCSA campus community and to offer affirmation programming for students who identify as people of color, LGBTQIA+, and international. OIE’s work will center all students and work closely with the Chief Diversity Officer once they are hired.
