Adult ADHD can lead to unstable relationships, poor work or school performance, low self-esteem, and other problems. I was employed in the Psychiatric service section, in forensic services. The forensic O.T team consisted of one senior O.T, a junior O.T and 3 O.T support staff. I filled the role of junior O.T. as part of a one year compulsory public service employment contract. The forensic unit was only in its 4th year of service since its inception at Lentegeur in 1998. This resulted in continual development of the service to take place. The forensic unit was using a blanket referral system at the time, resulting in the O.T unit accommodating approximately 80 to 100 clients at a time with a variety of conditions across the DSM-IV diagnostic categories.
