About Auwal Alhassan Tata
Started my career as a systems analyst with the ICT unit of Bayero University Kano. Anchored the building of the University network infrastructure. Setup and managed the University Datacentre. As part of my passion for community service, I was a pioneer member of the Nigerian Network Operators Group (ngNOG) where i was actively involved in building capacity mostly in Higher Educational Institutions (HEIs) in Nigeria. Still on community service, I became the secretary general of Internet Society (ISOC) Nigeria. Where I developed passion for ICT4D. Specifically I was involved in the planning and implementation of Zaria Community Network. I was so excited by the concept of community networks that I decided to choose it as my research area in the PhD program I am currently pursuing. I am working on how to make CNs sustainable while operating as a not-for-profit venture.
