Perform and assist in a variety of responsible computer related duties. Incumbent is responsible for: ensuring the maximum system uptime possible for the City’s critical systems; system capacity planning; system backups and restores; evaluating and recommending hardware and software; documenting system configuration and updates; publishing first draft policies for systems; system performance monitoring; troubleshooting and resolving of system issues as they arise; and developing business relationships with various vendors.

Under general supervision, performs work involved in the analysis, design, modification, implementation, and maintenance of the City’s Information System software applications; performs other related duties as assigned. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS1. Perform a variety of technically skilled tasks in the installation, maintenance, and operation of the City’s Information System software applications.2. Support the end users to ensure applications are functioning as required.3. Install application updates as needed.4. Participate in the systems analysis, testing, debugging, and implementation of software applications citywide.5. Produce and distribute statistical data, reports, and customer requested data queries as necessary.6. Interpret and follow technical manuals and develop, maintain, and update training guides and procedural manuals. 7. Provide assistance to departments to meet current and plan for future automated information systems needs. 8. Install computer equipment and software, and customize installed software to the specific requirements of the user department. 9. Design, code and implement software modifications to meet specialized user requirements for client and web based applications.10. Train end user personnel in the use of systems or applications, and serve as a resource for specified applications.11. Perform routine software maintenance per procedures as required. 12. Interface with vendors and customers in a professional and courteous manner. 13. Provide assistance to the public, City staff, and other Governmental agencies.14. Study and learn new programming languages, applications, and technologies as required.
