The Taylor Hooton Foundation was founded in 2004, in memory of Taylor Hooton, a 17-year old baseball player from Plano, Texas. Taylor was my younger brother. He took his own life after abusing anabolic steroids. We began the foundation in an attempt to educate the youth of our nation about healthy living and the dangers of Appearance & Performance Enhancing Drugs (APEDs). The Taylor Hooton Foundation is a fully operational 501c3 non-profit organization. Our primary vehicle for education is Hoot's Chalk Talks (HCT), a science-based program that includes a team of speakers visiting schools across the country speaking to students, athletes, and their adult influencers about the dangers of APEDs. This multi-media presentation demonstrates how students can accomplish their goals the “right way” through positive alternatives. The HCT program began about five years ago and has been delivered directly to over 250,000 youth, parents and coaches. Our goal is to reach all of North America/Latin America's youth. Hoot’s Chalk Talk delivers a powerful, pragmatic message in a way best understood by the student audience. This program has achieved great success in partnership with Major League Baseball (MLB), National Football League (NFL), The National Hockey League (NHL), The National Baseball Hall of Fame, the Drug Enforcement Agency (DEA), and many others. I have over 15 years experience designing nutrition programs for athletes and individuals looking to improve performance, health, and recovery from intense training. My programs are individually tailored to the athlete based on their specific goals and objectives. No plan or program is alike as each individual has separate likes and dislikes, trains at different volumes, and has a different calorie goal. I also create a periodization type nutrition program where their calorie goals for the day will be reflective of how much volume of work they do on a given day (i.e. Calorie goals for a 2 hour workout day will be different than the calorie goals of an off day). I also educate my athletes on safe and scientific based supplementation. All supplements recommended are 3rd party tested and certified by NSF or Informed Choice but also align with what the scientific evidence provides. I practice a food first approach and incorporate supplements where needed based on the age, training volume, and goals of the individual athlete.
