LEADERSHIP: Having served in the capacity of district manager assistant put Tawanda in the position of leading always. Serving as an Arizona State Legislative Appointed Tobacco Tax Commissioner has allowed unlimited servitude to the people of the State of Arizona. As the lead advocate for the American Heart Association, in Phoenix, AZ and Chicago, IL, liaising with local, state, and national elected officials has allowed Tawanda to have influence in public policy as a lobbyist/advocate. Holding leadership positions as a board member for several organizations, positions from vice-president to secretary has allowed for the development of leadership skills unmatched by many. EXCELLENT COMMUNICATION SKILLS: As an experienced executive assistant/legal secretary Tawanda had been responsible for drafting, proofing, editing confidential documents for top level leadership and attorneys. As a lead customer service representative, Tawanda is highly skilled at addressing and resolving problems. Tawanda’s experience as an advocate/lobbyist gives her the business acumen to communicate difficult messaging simply. As a freelance writer for the American Heart Association/American Stroke Association, as well as the Arizona Informant Newspaper, Tawanda has had extensive experience as a mass media communicator. RESEARCH & DETAIL ORIENTED: As a student of History, Tawanda has a strong and natural love of research, learning, and sharing what she has learned in the moment, being quick-witted, adaptable, and resourceful in tracking down resources and information, as well as, creating positive, healthy alliances to ensure project outcomes, building rapport with all relevant departments.
