Hongyi is a practising lawyer and licensed company secretary in Malaysia, having established Tay Chambers in 2020. As the Managing Partner since its founding, he has been pivotal in elevating the firm's stature within four years, building a dedicated team comprising 19 lawyers and 40 supporting personnel, who together, offer a diverse range of legal services across the practice areas . Hongyi plays a vital role in the firm’s client operations and overall business strategy.His specialized areas of practice include corporate and commercial law, banking and finance, and real estate. He extends his legal counsel to clients throughout the Asia-Pacific region on an array of legal concerns. Hongyi holds a Bachelor of Laws (LL.B. (Hons)) from the University of Leeds and has earned a postgraduate diploma in Professional Legal Skills from City, University of London, along with an executive certificate in Islamic finance from INCEIF. He is a Barrister-at-Law (Lincoln’s Inn) admitted to the Bar of England and Wales, and an Advocate and Solicitor of the High Court of Malaya. Hongyi also serves as legal advisor to several corporations and associations.
