After spending three years completing my Bachelor of Arts in the humble little town of Grahamstown, Eastern Cape, I decided to move back to Cape Town and navigate my LLB studies while working full time. I have always been passionate about the wine industry, so naturally, I gravitated towards what I knew. Fast forward to 2018 after a year of working in a tasting room, I found myself in a new position at 2018 Eat Out's Best Restaurant, The Restaurant at Waterkloof. While coordinating events at a prestigious restaurant and working under none other than Chef Gregory Czarnecki, was not necessarily part of the plan, I ended up sticking around for 3 years. It was a challenging, yet incredibly rewarding position and very much shaped my work ethic and career goals. I was set to pursue my dreams in the legal world after I completed my studies in 2020, but unfortunately, a worldwide pandemic had other plans. I've never been one to sit around and twiddle my thumbs, so although the rest period during the pandemic was much needed, it wasn't long until I got a bit angsty. I channelled that energy into freelancing on Upwork - offering a unique perspective: a journalist with a law degree. And here I am: learning a whole new skill, freelancing for an incredibly dynamic marketing agency based in Australia and thriving. However, my passion for the law has not dwindled. I enrolled in LEAD’s School of Legal Practice in 2021 and successfully completed 400 notional hours. A highlight of that course was BLA’s Trial Advocacy programme in which we got to hone in on our trial skills under the guidance of Justice Molemela. While the ultimate goal originally was to get admitted onto the LPC's List of Legal Practitioners, I've decided to focus on exploring the unexpected turn I have taken on my career path and continue to enjoy expanding my skills in the digital marketing world. I have since moved to Australia and am currently pursuing a role as a Digital Marketing Coordinator, allowing me to continue expanding my skills in the digital marketing world.
