From education to health care to economic development, my projects require me to think quickly and deeply to answer the big questions raised by the change-makers of the world. As an analyst, my charge begins with complex, messy data and ends in compelling, structured solutions.

As an undergraduate, I founded and directed a science literacy program reaching 100 neighborhoods in the state of North Carolina. Using the existing Little Free Library network, I jumpstarted a new initiative encouraging Little Free Library stewards to promote science literacy in their communities. Through raising funds from the Seeding in Innovation and Science Education Grant, I was able to operate the statewide program for 3 years before passing it off to my peers at UNC-Chapel Hill upon my graduation.

During my time at UNC-Chapel Hill, I was dedicated to giving back to the community that gave me some of the best years of my life. Throughout my time at UNC, I worked alongside inspirational scientists and nonprofit leaders to promote STEM education and interest in North Carolina, particularly for those from minority backgrounds. Each year the North Carolina Science Festival coordinates over 400 educational and interactive events. As Lead Student Assistant, I was tasked with communicating and coordinating with our partners on behalf of the organization to ensure events were well attended.

My interest in Health Policy and Management and yearning to develop deep analytic skills brought me to my summer internship at Kaiser Permanente (KP). As a Financial Analyst intern, I conducted a Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (CMS) Open Payments investigation for the Compliance Department to identify physicians in violation of KP’s zero-tolerance policy regarding physician gifts. Additionally, I designed and piloted a comparative expense analysis across 42 medical centers and reported findings to regional directors through a Tableau dashboard platform to encourage best practice sharing.

Perhaps the nerdiest and rewarding extracurricular I did in undergrad was serve as an Undergraduate Learning Assistant (ULA) in the Department of Economics. My niche? Microeconomics. As a ULA, I created weekly supplemental course materials and answer keys for Microeconomics students as well as hosted 3 hours of review sessions per week for students to seek assistance on homework and content clarification.
