I studied the populations of rare and endangered birds along the NC coast. Bachman's Sparrow, Red-cockaded Woodpecker, and Loggerhead Shrike were the focal species. Banding, radio telemetry, and nest searching were daily tasks. I also performed point counts for many other species of passerines through call and sight.

I was responsible the capture, handling, banding, radio-collaring, and tracking of Bobwhite and Scaled Quail in the panhandle of Oklahoma.

I worked in a factory for Steelcase Inc. taking cabinet parts off a paint line, sorting them, and delivering them to the assembly line. I also worked on the assembly line to build the cabinets.

I worked hands on with animals and their exhibits. The main part of my job was educating the public as well as facilitating zoo events. For example, I would stand in front of exhibits with a microphone on and talk to the guests about the animals in the enclosure. I would answer questions and teach the public about the animal's habits, their habitat.
