From a very young age I have been interested in pursuing a career in the healthcare field. It wasn’t until my sophomore year of my undergraduate degree when I realized the practice of Pharmacy was my passion. I volunteered in various departments of the pharmacy at Shand’s in Gainesville, FL and saw just how essential a pharmacist is to a patient care team. They actively make sure the patient is the main focus by recommending adjustments to medications to ensure safety and efficacy. After my experiences at Shand’s, I knew I wanted to be a pharmacist. I graduated from UF with a degree in chemistry, took the PCAT and started the application process to pharmacy school to achieve this goal. I applied to UF College of Pharmacy and cried happy tears when I got the email that I was accepted and to my preferred campus.Currently, I am a third-year pharmacy student at the University of Florida, Jacksonville Campus. I am gaining invaluable knowledge through the opportunities this university offers. I am a leader at the Jacksonville Campus, holding multiple positions in student organizations. I am an Ambassador at the Jacksonville Campus, welcoming new pharmacy students and sharing my passion for this profession with them. I am currently employed as a pharmacy intern by both UF Health Jacksonville and HCA Memorial Hospital gaining experience and applying the knowledge UF has provided me with.I am excited for what my future holds in the field of pharmacy. I aspire to make an impact in the healthcare world as a clinical hospital pharmacist or ambulatory care pharmacist, always ensuring the patient is at the center of care.
