Greetings!I'm Taylor Burke, a sophomore at Wake Forest University in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. In the spring of 2025, I intend to declare a major in Health and Exercise Science and a minor in Spanish.Since my elementary career, I've been passionate about STEM studies, being a strong leader, and giving back to the community.My ultimate goal is to join the mighty 5.7% of black U.S medical doctors, working tirelessly to become an upcoming surgeon.     I had the amazing opportunity to research in 2 separate labs under the UChicago Chicago EYES on Cancer program. During the summer of 2022, I conducted computer-based research with the Department of Public Health and the Pierce Lab. We characterized disparities in cancer incidence between Hispanic and Non-Hispanic patients in the University of Chicago's Comprehensive Cancer Center catchment area. Last summer, I conducted wet-lab research with the Department of Gastroenterology and the Bissonnette Lab.
