Developing k-12 content for Social Studies

Greater Boston

For three seasons, I contributed to all aspects of a small, busy landscaping company. As a crew leader, I provided leadership and guidance in the field, and support company leader in managing projects. Due to changes in my professional life elsewhere, my current role is a part-time service manager responsible for overseeing and/or conducting service and maintenance on all company equipment and vehicles.

I conduct research and fact checking for standards-aligned k-12 social studies materials, including core curriculum content, current event articles, and assessments.

Hatfield, Ma

I managed research, acquisition, and licensing of archival footage, photos, and audio for multimedia museum exhibits. I also supported content development by contributing to project brainstorming, doing primary and secondary source research and writing content outlines and drafts.

Newport, Rhode Island

As a Research Fellow in Interpretation and Public Practice, I researched and wrote a variety of interpretive content, including exhibit labels and tour scripts. I also conducted an oral history project, developed and delivered two public lectures, and wrote a case study evaluating historic house interpretation for a forthcoming anthology.

Kansas City, Missouri Area

ContemPlace is a nonprofit founded by exhibit designer Jerry Eisterhold of Eisterhold Associates Inc that believes every individual and community can become an agent of their own future. As a GRA I provided research and development support for immersive, informal education experiences that teach thinking skills, data literacy, health literacy, personal agency, and civic empowerment.

Kansas City, Missouri Area

As a GRA I organized and catalogued collections of audio materials, including the cassette collection of famed Jazz guitarist Barney Kessel. I also wrote "Scripts and Grooves," the blog of LaBudde Special Collections, which interprets the collections for the public.

As a crew leader I was responsible for managing material, personnel, and other resources to meet the needs of discerning private and commercial clients

San Antonio, Texas Area

I conducted community education, outreach, capacity building, and research on environmental sustainability and energy issues in San Antonio. I helped launch the community sustainability center EcoCentro and developed its first public workshops.

Adams, Ma

I provided research to support museum interpretation and published an article on my efforts locating the site of the Anthony family mill in the museum newsletter.

Dalton, Ma

Summer worker '08, '09. Assisted in takedown, restoration, preservation, and reconstruction of 19th Century Post-and-Beam barns and houses.
