Audited all financial transactions for Reserve, Active Duty, and civilian personnel within the Marine Corps in accordance with the Joint Federal Travel Regulations (JFTR), Joint Travel Regulations (JTR), Department of Defense Financial Management Regulations (DODFMR), and the Marine Corps Travel Instruction Manual (MCTIM). Led the training, instruction, and development of all personnel within the Finance Office. • Led, mentored, and trained a staff of 49 personnel and monitored each individual’s progression to ensure increasing benefit to the overall mission utilizing performance evaluations, practical applications, and formal training programs• Increased the production and accuracy by 23% from 2011 to 2013 through the creation and implementation of standard operating procedures and organizational charts according to the Marine Corps Administrative Analysis Team (MCAAT)• Processed, audited, and certified over 15,000 financial transactions totaling over $20 million• Identified over 5,000 discrepancies resulting in a 25% reduction of erroneous payments in base pay, allowances, advances, benefits, taxes, and travel entitlements• Conducted investigations on potential fraud cases and forwarded cases to Naval Criminal Investigative Service (NCIS)• Analyzed systems software which lead to the advancement of Integrated Automated Travel Systems (IATS) and the creation of Document Tracking Management System-Travel (DTMS-T)• Meritoriously Promoted to the rank of Sergeant• Selected as the MARINE OF THE YEAR for 2011 out of over 3,000 candidates
