I have always sat at the interface between research and education, believing that they support each other and have allowed me to gain experience in many roles. My PhD was made of two main research projects: 1) Investigating pyrimidine biosynthesis in the human fungal pathogen Cryptococcus neoformans 2) Understanding the science communication capabilities of early science communication learnersThe skills and knowledge I have gained during my PhD and my roles as an educator give me the ability to research independently when needed, but also be a leader in a laboratory setting by providing support to students at all levels of their education.I believe that there are many opportunities for improving science education that are waiting to be explored, and I would like to be a part of the changes to tertiary science education that have begun to take place.
