I learned coordination study concepts from the engineers that work at Trace. They gave me an understanding of how important it is to selecting the proper protective equipment when designing power systems for customers. Coordination between protective devices is key not only to prevent widespread damage but also for safety, cost savings, and to maintain functionality in the majority of the system. I was taught how their testing equipment operates, as well as learning about the new SEL digital relays that are now taking over the market. I went to a training seminar for programming and assessing problems in SEL-751 and SEL-751A feeder protection relays while interning at Trace.
