My name is Taylor Feigl. I graduated from Clemson University in December of 2018. My most recent career in the field that I am interested in was as a Registered Behavioral Technician. I have gained valuable knowledge in how children with autism acquire skills most effectively. I have also gained techniques that reduce their ineffective behaviors. Currently, I wish to explore my options in careers that I can improve the lives of those who have physical and intellectual disabilities.I have had six years experience working with people who have disabilities through camp and volunteer involvements. These opportunities have taught me about various intellectual and physical disabilities. For instance, as a camp counselor I learned how to assist in transfers, change diapers, among other important skills for working with children who have disabilities. I also learned how to adapt activities to fit the needs and capabilities of people who have different disabilities. I have a mild form of Cerebral Palsy that affects my right arm and leg. My personal experience of having to adapt to being independent while having CP has inspired me to want to help others who have disabilities. I majored in psychology and this area of study has taught me how to better understand and help people. I also have a minor in Recreational Therapy and my minor furthered my education on how to adapt different activities to fit the needs and capabilities of people who have different disabilities.My personal career goal is to help people who have disabilities live as full and meaningful lives as possible It is my mission to focus on their abilities rather than their disabilities.
