My role as a database engineer at Blueprint Test Preparation has been to facilitate the diverse data needs of a rapidly growing company. Some of my work has included the following: Maintaining the data ETL from our web application using a combination of DynamoDB, S3, AWS Glue, and Redshift. Creating student and instructor performance (quality index) reports for our operations team by developing unique SQL solutions using AWS Lambda and Looker. Produced a generative AI tool for medical content creation using Python, Milvus Vector Database, and Streamlit. Assisting our marketing, finance, and operations teams with executive level reporting.

I started at Life Development Institute in the summer of 2020 as a Database Engineer Intern when I was brought in to build an SQL database from the ground up. The school administration, instructors, and in-house IT staff were so impressed with my work that I was elevated to a paid position within a few short months. I worked with the administration of the School to provide the following IT related services: Conceptualized internal relational database system. Coded Python scripts to handle back end data extraction (API calls), transformation (NumPy/Pandas), and loading into a Microsoft Azure SQL server. Worked on integrating software components under Agile management principles. Thoroughly diagnosed day-to-day information technology related issues with attention to detail. Identified and solved problems to keep the web-based school curriculum updated and accessible for Students and Teachers.

As a student at Arizona State University I sought the opportunity to further my knowledge beyond the classroom by participating on a research team. The project my team worked on is a twitter-based flu visualization and prediction website (http://flu.academy) that seeks to determine the spread of the influenza virus by using publicly available tweets. My role in this was to act as the website administration and to create/maintain the front end website and data visualizations using JavaScript and WordPress. To do this I had to work closely with a team of people to assess the needs of the website, provide information and updates, resolve any technological problems, and meet the expectations of the professor in charge of the research. I also had to meet weekly to communicate with the back-end managers to determine accuracy and relevance of the information and to ensure the data was processed and displayed correctly using python and Linux task scheduling. Through this experience I was able to gain a deep understanding of the back-end and front-end IT software development process.

At nonPareil Institute my role as a front-end software developer was to create intricate levels and gameplay for mobile phone/PC/WII U applications. I did this by integrating assets into tools like Unity, Valve’s Source Engine, and Unreal Engine. My work at nonPareil institute set the foundation for my love of computer science and ultimately led me to pursue my formal education at Arizona State University.
