Social work intern at the Seattle VHA, working in the Geriatric Research, Education, and Clinical Center and Geriatric Primary Care. In this role, I conducted biospyschosocial assessments to determine he strengths, protective factors, and needs of Veterans and their families in an outpatient medical setting. I provided a range of social work services within standards of social work practice including the provision of case management, care coordination, implementation of supportive and problem solving interventions, and facilitating long term care planning. I gained experience working with Veterans from diverse backgrounds and identities. I coordinated long term care placement for Veterans as appropriate and developed treatment plans in collaboration with interdisciplinary team members as needed.I provided education to Veterans and families regarding both VA and community resources, VA benefits, disease progression, risk reduction, and advance care directives. Using clinical expertise, I assisted Veterans and families with processing grief experiences and caregiver fatigue. I established and maintained effective working relationships with Veterans, families, and community agencies. I completed timely documentation in accordance with VA policy.

My internship with Homage's Mental Health department allowed me to fulfill diverse roles, building skills in multiple areas of competency. I conducted intake assessments of patients to understand their psychosocial reality and determine which of the agency’s mental health services/programs they qualified for. I also administered and scored geriatric depression scale assessments to gain insight into client’s depressive symptoms and refer them to appropriate agency and community resources. I completed documentation of client intakes and assessments in accordance with agency policy. I also participated in the agency's advocacy group to pursue change in elder care policy. In partnership with my supervisor, I co-facilitated an art-based social support group for older adults. I developed the curriculum for this group, which included arts-based mindfulness education and activities, grief processing writing exercises, and group projects designed to foster interpersonal connection. I also assisted in developing the cultural humility training module for Homage’s Senior Peer Counseling training module, which included creating evidence-based training materials. Lastly, I participated in interdisciplinary trauma-informed care education for staff as part of the agency’s CARE team.

I interned as the marketing assistant for the successful fashion blog Love Playing Dressup. My experience and skill set in this internship includes successful and extensive brand outreach, the creation of outreach pitches, various photoshop projects, media kit design, strong interpersonal communication, as well as running a variety of media campaigns and projects.
