With a focus on hands-on, experiential learning, we go beyond the traditional classroom to provide students with practical, real-world experiences that enhance understanding and engagement.For over four years, I've been dedicated to nurturing young minds and laying the foundation for lifelong success. I am passionate about education and I have successfully taught foundational literacy skills, including reading and writing, to children with ease and joy.But education doesn't stop within the four walls of school. I believe in the power of exploration and discovery, which is why I design and organize educational field trips to supplement classroom learning. These experiences provide students with invaluable opportunities to connect with the world around them and deepen their understanding of various subjects.Communication skills are essential for success in the modern world, which is why we've integrated communication skills development into our daily lessons. From effective verbal expression to polished writing skills, we empower students to communicate confidently and articulately in any situation.At MLB, we're not just teaching subjects—we're nurturing the whole child. That's why we've introduced gardening as part of our curriculum, promoting hands-on learning, environmental awareness, and a deeper connection to the world around us.

We build financial security for low-income communities through people-powered technology.

TAX ASSISTANCE* Coordinate and direct a team of 21 volunteers across 6 sites in Anderson County, meeting with clients and verifying eligibility, checking for proper identification, gathering relevant tax information and documents, and entering the information into the computer system. * Ensure the accuracy of each return and answer questions from the volunteers. Review and explain the information on the tax returns to clients, collect signatures, and submit the tax returns to the IRS. Expedite the resolution of any issues with the tax returns.* Develop training/certification schedules and orientation classes for the volunteers at the start of each tax season. * Build relationships with tax volunteer groups to increase and retain the VITA volunteer base. FINANCIAL GUIDANCE* Offer financial management counseling sessions and teach financial empowerment classes to provide the tools needed to achieve financial stability, including building and sustaining income and savings. * Created the weekly financial empowerment class from the ground up, researching relevant financial information and developing lesson plans aligned to South Carolina state goals. * Market the class to a network of nonprofits, including AIM, Goodwill, and Habitat for Humanity to reach the intended audience.* Schedule one-on-one financial counseling for clients, developing easy to attain strategies and solutions that address the client’s unique situation and improve their financial position.

Supervised at-risk male and female youth, ages 11 to 19 at this Level 3 group home. Managed and redirected inappropriate behavior, resolved conflicts, and deescalated and prevented crisis situations. Planned and led group activities designed to address issues and met the needs and interests of each client. * Consistently documented the behavior of each client, as well as progress and responses to treatment goals.* Built relationships with the children, acting as a trusted and supportive advisor.
