Taylor Plimpton is a freelance book editor at Reedsy. Recently, he was the “Human Executive Editor” of Love, Dog, where he also penned a column entitled, The Chronicles of Brooklyn: Lessons from a (Mostly) Good Dog. Previously, he was an editor at Men’s Journal, Manhattan, and Beach magazines. He’s author of the memoir, Notes from the Night: A Life After Dark (Crown, 2010) and the co-editor of The Dreaded Feast: Writers on Enduring the Holidays (Abrams, 2009). He regularly contributes essays to Sports Illustrated, Town & Country, Tricycle: The Buddhist Review, The New Yorker, A Public Space, The Paris Review Daily, The Rumpus, and many other periodicals. In 2013, 2018, 2020, and 2021, his nonfiction pieces were named Notable Essays in Best American Essays. He teaches creative writing at Catapult and was on the faculty at the Writer’s Foundry MFA Program at St. Joseph’s College in Brooklyn, where he lectured, led writing workshops, and offered literature seminars on Zen in the Art of Writing. Plimpton is currently finishing up a collection entitled, Who My Dog Thinks I Am: Essays and Other True Tales. He graduated with a degree in English from Reed College, and lives with his family (including his mostly good dog, Brooklyn) in Pleasantville, New York.
