I am supporting ELP-funded projects across Europe to empirically monitor and test landscape restoration interventions. Broadly, this work helps promote and build a robust evidence base for current and future restoration projects across terrestrial and marine habitats.

I conducted a pilot soundscape research project in the Black Forest to identify differences in acoustic complexity along gradients of habitat fragmentation and structural richness.

• Researched the factors limiting the use of threatened tree species for the restoration of the Araucaria Forest ecosystem in southern Brazil (with support from Global Trees Campaign/Fauna & Flora International)• Conducted in-depth interviews with nurseries and restoration practitioners in order to (1) establish baselines of production of tree species used for restoration; (2) understand what social and economic factors drive the attitudes and decision-making processes of species selection; and (3) identify opportunities for inclusion of more than 70 threatened and rare species for recommendation to policy-makers and the restoration community• Successfully awarded two grants: FFI Student Grant and Sir Philip Reckitt Educational Trust• Presented research at the David Attenborough Building in Cambridge, UK and at UEA

• Field research which explored the influences of forest edges on conifer regeneration and growth within harvest units; this research is part of a larger long-term study of variable-retention harvests in the Pacific Northwest• Surveyed and established edge transects; identified, aged, and measured conifer tree seedlings and saplings for diameter and height growth; sampled additional characteristics of the local environment

• Designed multi-stage project proposals to generate interest and funding for the ecotourism project• Conducted field visits to identify and map potential locations for an ecotourism zip line designed to generate and distribute funds to the conservation and restoration of Phnom Kulen National Park• Identified trees of appropriate height, width, and species as potential anchor points, as well as identifying viable pathways between the trees• Wrote ongoing small ($2000) and large (up to $30,000) grant applications• Designed preliminary “Environmental Impact Assessment” currently under review by the Cambodian Ministry of Environment

• Developed conservation content and designed on-site visitor education/engagement materials• Created sustainable livelihood opportunities for local farmers to mitigate regional biodiversity loss; butterfly farming program provides an alternative to farmers who are expanding their farmland with unsustainable slash-and-burn practices that degrade surrounding forests• Created business proposals forpotential clients to generate an ongoing market for pupae sales • Establish captive breeding program for local butterfly species

• Designed a detailed reforestation pilot project for Sang Sahakum Rukhavoan Community Forest (Monks Community Forest)• Independent grant writing to support this project• Developed photo essay concept for international awareness-raising campaign of Bun Saluth (head monk and community leader) and his work in the community forest

• Conducted biodiversity assessments throughout Phnom Kulen National Park• Worked in partnership with Ministry of Environment officials, Park authorities, and members of Poipel Community Forest to meet natural resource management goals and successfully implement projects below:•• Broadened and developed Kulen Nature Trails project, an ecotourism program that generates conservation funding and alternative livelihood opportunities for members of Preah Ang Thom and Poipel villages•• Installed camera traps at strategic locations to identify wildlife presence and to collect data on illegal logging activity in PKNPImplemented sustainable waste management solutions for Preah Ang Thom village•• Created informational signage to be installed at strategic points in PKNP to further education of the region’s ecological, cultural, and monetary value•• Designed and distributed all materials for Kulen Nature Trails marketing campaign•• Generated new strategies and grant proposals to ensure the park’s continued viability as an essential wildlife habitat and water catchment area

• Personally planted 144,205 trees on a three-million-tree planting project• Performed tree auditor duties to maintain quality—supervised planters and inspected the location, depth, straightness, and firmness of planted trees to ensure over 95% survival rate• Attained an understanding of the technical requirements to successfully implement an efficient, large-scale planting project

I fulfilled multiple roles at ACCB, dividing my time between administrative-, communication-, and field-related work. • Administration: assisted with accounting, budgeting, financial reporting, and inventory. • Communications: managed social media outreach, conduct interviews, provide newsletter updates, and assist with signage design throughout the Centre. • Field Research: accumulated field experience in NW Cambodia: GIS mapping, tracking wildlife, installing camera traps, and learning to visually ID a variety of plant and animal species.

• Marketed international conservation projects; kept up-to-date on environmental and land management issues in order to better communicate NG projects to our broad audience.• Designed print and digital marketing materials for multiple platforms, including movie posters, large-scale banners and public transportation ads, digital banner ads, emails, and layouts for National Geographic magazine in print, iPad, and Kindle versions. • Logo design, direct mail pieces, invitations, product packaging, and copywriting.• Laid out, versioned, and resized print and digital creative elements. Maintained a high level of accuracy for a large number of deliverables on tight deadlines. Integrated art and copy to maximize impact of concept.• Lay out and design style guides, presentations, and other internal documents as needed.
