The UVU Wolverine Fund is an evergreen student run Venture capital fund that writes checks between $15K-25K. We have examined all types of businesses in various industries. The Wolverine Fund is comprised of full-time UVU students selected to participate in the rigorous top-level, hands-on industry that is venture capital. These students will actively participate in the due diligence, research, and investment process of the UVU Wolverine Fund for up to two years as juniors or seniors. Selected students come from a wide array of student backgrounds with unique expertise in areas such as technology, entrepreneurship, accounting, finance, and marketing. Mission statement: The Wolverine Fund is a student-run venture capital group that provides a hands-on, engaged learning experience in investing. Our students will complete due diligence for partner VC firms, source deals for our network of investors around the nation, and participate in national venture capital due diligence competitions. We also aim to support the development of the entrepreneurship community at Utah Valley University through a variety of initiatives.

I delivered packages for Amazon. My duties consisted of loading the van effectively with packages of all sizes and weights, and delivering packages in 11 hour shifts. Mainly delivered packages to Utah and Wasatch counties. Forced to problem solve as I was alone for nearly all of my shift and needed to keep pace without falling behind despite any problems I ran into. Reached outstanding performance every quarter and received multiple raises. Praised for good customer service and going the extra mile.

I help students learn how to be successful in college and life by leading and mentoring them. As well as providing them with skills and resources to mange their stress, time, money, and academics. Each semester I am assigned a class in the student success studies department to mentor. Each class has between 10-40 students and I collaborate with the professor to help the students in as many ways as I can. Which can include sit down one on one meetings with each student, mindset training, working through high level problems with them, teaching lessons, providing tools and resources, and many other things. I need to be very adaptable to the students I lead because their needs change every semester and I need to tailor how I lead to best fit them. I am required to lead by example by maintain a high GPA, Full credit load, attending of events, and living what I preach so to speak. The program mission statement: The UVU Mentor Program provides peer leadership and advocacy to aid students in their transition to university life wherein they prepare students with success strategies for academic and social engagement that foster student retention.The Main 5 roles of a UVU mentor: Peer leader- As simple as it sounds, you lead by example!Learning Coach- You help facilitate content along with your cooperating instructor, to make sure students “get” it.Student Advocate- You are a voice for your students, you represent and protect them.Trusted Friend- You are somebody your students can turn to.Connecting Link- You help your students become more connected to campus, and to each other!

I have started several business ventures. They have mainly been side income/side hustles in addition to school and a W2 job and not my main priority. The first one was in 2012-2016 when I started a yard Maintenance company with two employees. The second was a backpacking company developed for an entrepreneurship class and pitch competition. Another one that makes custom cakes and other treats for weddings birthdays and events. The most recent one is an e-commerce business. I love entrepreneurship and even if I don't start my own business in my professional career, having an entrepreneurial mindset and skillset can be extremely beneficial in helping companies innovate and overcome problems as well as learn how to add value to different parts of the company. Minoring in entrepreneurship at UVU has allowed me to expand my network and learn how successful businesses are conceived, built, grown, managed, and taken through an exit. Much of it through hands on experience and real-world examples.

I worked in extremely fast paced environments in emergency rooms across Utah and Salt lake county. I was tasked with getting important information from patients such as ID’s, insurance, medical allergies, medical history, emergency contact info, etc. as soon as they entered the ER. I had to communicate with patients, medical staff, and law enforcement calmly and effectively under pressure. Had to overcome difficulties very quickly with problem solving and critical thinking skills. Performed many duties outside of my job description to fulfill many different and urgent needs all around the hospital while it was being over run during the peak of the covid pandemic. 12-14 hour shifts with no manager present.

I worked in a very fast paced and physical warehouse setting. I checked in and sorted packages. I stacked and loaded boxes of all shapes, sizes, and weights into trailers for shipping. I learned how to be quick on my feet, as well as work with others efficiently and effectively. I made sure that each trailer was quickly and thoroughly stacked to its maximum capacity in an organized manner to assure ease of delivery. Loaded multiple trailers each shift due to the holidays and increased demand.

I was in charge of washing the windows for several Commercial Clients, and making sure they were kept clean. I was promoted to duties of buying Inventory to keep up maintenance, scheduling people’s hours, and tracking invoices of accounts payable and receivable.

I was originally hired to run the registers and provide good customer service, but I quickly started learning and doing other jobs around the store such as; organizing and unloading freight trucks and stocking inventory. I built displays and furniture, executed planograms, helped customers make sales decisions, special ordered items for customers, as well as meeting a daily requirement of reward sign ups on the register. I received several raises and was able to work all positions in the store.
