At YWHN (youth wellness hub of Niagara), I act as a contact member on the youth advisory committee (Y.A.C). My role entails completing any task that we feel benefits the youth, or the space itself. It has been a great opportunity, especially being able to act as a voice for those who may not speak up.

Taylor has begun her journey to making dreams come true. She accepted an offer at Brock University last year for her undergrad, where she will familiarize herself with the post-secondary environment! As a mental health/well being advocate, Taylor works hard to focus on others and improve their day-to-day functioning through practical as well as thought out approaches. This is inportant as some of the things she already does, can transfer over to Brock (for example, extracurriculars). This past year came personal struggle, so she will be taking up this challenge fully come January 2025. She enjoys what she does currently, but is more thrilled to be entering University (fully) as the time counts down!

At the Oak Centre, we are a clubhouse providing support to those with serious mental health conditions, looking to gain meaningful skills, crush goals and build relationships. The psychosocial rehabilitation approach we take is different from the common medical model and makes us stand out. We are a not-for-profit organization located in Welland, Ontario! My role here is changing drastically, but currently, I am a social media lead as well as administrative team member. Within my role, I see to creating *majority* of our presence on platforms such as Facebook and Instagram, as well as using Canva. Aside from that, I facilitate meetings on the regular (for example employment/education, tour guide development training…etc). 1/4 youth volunteer appointees sitting on the Youth Advisory Committee for Autism Speaks Canada. Taylor is involved as a micro-grant reviewer, committee member, occasional secretary/notetaker as well as point person for the organization. This is mostly for the “Canada-wide inclusion project” ASC is putting forth as an effort to assist individuals in their communities (especially remote) nationwide .

I aim to work in (eventually) as well as improve health care for ALL patients. Low income, high income, homeless, housed, mentally Ill, 2LGBTQ+or not…etc. With Quest, that’s what I do. I (along with a group of “like-minded” individuals), get together twice per month and discuss how we can make services better for the clients at the CHC.
