I work as a Linux firmware/applications developer on the products developed by Emerson's Retail Solutions division.So far, my duties have included writing python scripts to batch-update internal system files and working to port C/C++ applications/drivers from one of Emerson's older products to new and upcoming systems.

As an Engineer II, I continued my design verification testing duties, as well as designed, tested, and wrote the firmware for a new AC-powered, battery-backed ZigBee-compatible consumer product based on the design I bread-boarded as an Engineer I. I also supported the manufacturing process over multiple prototype runs.Additionally, I consulted with RF, Power Supply, and Manufacturing engineers to develop a robust set of firmware features to support testing both in-house and on the production line.Generally speaking, I am responsible for the schematic design/capture, testing, prototyping, and firmware development for assigned embedded hardware projects in the realm of home automation. I primarily deal with digital hardware or digital sections of a given project, and often work closely with power supply designers, RF hardware designers, PCB layout engineers, manufacturing engineers, and manufacturing test engineers in order to support the testing, completion, and mass-production of a design.I have also been responsible for in-house HDMI Source compliance testing, USB 2.0 compliance testing, electrostatic discharge testing, flash memory design verification testing, and test automation.

As an Engineer I, I automated, simplified, and reduced cost of in-house test fixtures by building PIC16-based control boards and eventually transitioning the lab to cheaper, reusable AVR/Arduino-based systems.I began development and breadboard-prototyping of a ZigBee-based consumer home electronics device.I also completed HDMI 1.4b source compliance certification, USB 2.0 compliance certification, and serial/parallel flash memory bus characterization for several TV set-top box products.
