Work for the Children’s Treatment Centre in Nipissing to provide school-based services at an elementary level as well as in-clinic services to children under 5, specializing in fine motor, sensory, regulation, play, and self care needs.Role includes informal and standardized assessment, home programming, trialing of assistive technology including computer and iPad applications, parent coaching, environmental and block-based intervention, independent caseload prioritization and scheduling, working as part of an inter-professional team, connecting families with community resources and appropriate education, and developing rapport.

Worked on the transition team and on the forensic outreach team to support individuals with severe and persistent mental illness, in community reintegration and further development of structured meaningful activity. Role included transition and treatment planning, standardized and informal assessment, routine development, liaising with community resources, education on insight, conditions and strategies to complete tasks/occupations, crisis and relapse management, creating coping skills that will support wellness, rapport building and psychosocial rehabilitation, and support in independent living skills and vocational preparation during recovery.

Collaboratively working with Antler River Elementary school within the larger context of Chippewas of the Thames First Nation to leave a sustainable impact in the community.Tasks included examining Western values/models within Indigenous contexts, dissemination and reflective discussion of cultural resources, creation of paediatric materials, identifying areas of growth and resources through informal interviewing, advocating for the partnership and OT within the community, and developing a resource and reflection tool for student OTs.
