When I was 20, I signed up for a 50K marathon - that’s 31 miles! I trained for months and I felt confident. What I did not prepare for was the mountain elevation of the actual marathon. The location of the marathon was over 3,000 feet above the elevation where I was training. While I was running (and walking), I thought about quitting at least 1,000 times. Despite the crumbling rock paths along the mountainside, the dread of every incline ahead of me and the mental and physical fatigue, I kept going. That’s who I am. Even with unforeseen challenges, I won’t give up until I complete what I set out to accomplish. Now, I put that experience to work in everything I do. I have over 10 years of customer service skills from a variety of roles. I’m currently working as a Barista at Starbucks, making someone’s life a little easier with that morning cup of coffee. I’m well-versed in communication, organizing, problem solving and adapting even with spontaneous obstacles.
