Provide overall project administration support to the Project Manager, top management, and supporting team members. Worked as a field technician on multiple types of research projects concentrated in the monitoring of climate change. The work was team orientated and required extensive preparation, organization, and prioritization. The research included invertebrate collection, small mammal trapping, soil collection and plant collection. Lab work included entering data sets and creating physical and digital inventories for samples collected in the field.

Ouachita National Forest

Primary duties were working as a two-person team or individually to locate bear dens. Dens were located using GPS transmitter collars. Bears were sedated using a jab stick and measurements of the dens and cubs were taken. The project was part of ongoing research being done in collaboration with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation and Oklahoma State University graduate students to determine bear demographics in south eastern Oklahoma.

Ouachita National Forest

Assisted a PhD. Student with her field work for the summer. We worked as a two-person team to collect vegetation and invertebrate information using randomly chosen transects within the Ouachita National Forest in landscapes having various burn intervals, ranging from never burned to current year burn. As part of our work, we covered the bear trap line when needed. This included setting the traps, maintaining trail cameras, checking traps, and processing the bears when present. Processing included sedating bears and taking several samples and recording data. Careful planning and attention to detail were required for this position. The project was part of ongoing research being done in collaboration with the Oklahoma Department of Wildlife Conservation and Oklahoma State University graduate students to determine bear demographics in south eastern Oklahoma.
