About Taylor Parsons

As the Director of Technical Advisory for a growing clean energy company, my goal is to help enable my team to make an outsized impact on the energy transition. Through my 10+ years' experience in the energy industry, I've helped key players to make informed decisions with their low carbon assets. I have played a part in analyzing a significant portion of the installed capacity of wind power in North America, with strong and growing experience in solar, storage, energy markets, microgrids, and others. Leading teams, business development, process improvement, and helping to define priorities have become more recent pursuits. Technical specialties include renewable resource assessment, energy analysis, and M&A-style technical due diligence. I’m currently completing an Executive MBA in Energy at the University of Oklahoma Price College of Business with an expected completion in Spring 2025.

    As a Nuclear Shift Test Engineer, my actions supported the operation of nuclear reactors on aircraft carriers and submarines. With the expectation that he become an expert in nuclear power systems at the end of an approximately 2-year training program, I acted as a liaison between ship's force and shipyard maintenance personnel, helped maintain safety through tag-outs, analyzed work isolation for maintenance, and applied learned systems knowledge to advise the navy on their operations. Through my time in the nuclear world, I hacve gained insight into the role interpersonal relationships (such as those he formed with the men and women who operated these plants) play on the success of a job. In addition, this work has continued to show the importance of a systems-engineering mindset to everything he does on such large-scale projects.

    Supported the Systems Engineering group at the National Wind Technology Center with a focus on mechanical analyses. In 2013, my work centered on validating loads-based sizing models for wind turbine drivetrains. In 2014, I created a fatigue-based main shaft and bearing sizing model in Python, and validated results in a published study. In 2015, I drafted and published studies which investigated the functionality of the WISDEM models, and give insight into the effects of design choices on wind turbine mass and cost.Throughout my work with the Systems Engineering Group at NREL, I improved his skills in data collection, solid modeling, finite element analysis, computer programming (MATLAB and Python), technical communication and publication of case studies/reports, among many others. I researched industry standards and OEM designs which provided insight into the design of large-scale wind turbines. Perhaps most importantly, I learned that technical writing and communication were a fundamental part of any engineering venture.
