My role includes overseeing communication handling for all major public spending announcements, devolved taxation, economic investment and business support, city deals, international trade and exports, the digital economy, banking and financial services in Scotland, fair work and skills. I also lead on crisis communications for major economic developments including job losses and business economic volatility. Since joining the Scottish Government, I have led on some of the biggest projects including the 2018/19 and 2019/20 Scottish Budgets – the first time the Scottish Government used devolved tax powers – the Prepare For Brexit campaign, the Michelin Dundee crisis, two Scottish Apprenticeship Weeks and four City Deal and Growth Deal announcements.I have also championed a new ‘digital-first’ approach within my team that focuses on using digital channels over traditional media to reach our key audiences. My main duties include: • Media and press management - act as a government spokesperson and work with journalists, bloggers and other key influencers to inform the public of Scottish Government policies• News management - the ability to spot potential problems and react quickly • Media handling - drafting timely media materials, working with ministerial and policy teams, handling visits, working up lines to take • Content creation - helping create, shape, share and exchange dynamic content through social media channels• Campaigns - play an active role in Scottish Government campaigns and work alongside marketing and insight colleagues

I was appointed by Ken Macintosh, Member of the Scottish Parliament, to run his campaign bid to become the leader of the Scottish Labour Party. • Responsible for all aspects of the campaign including day-to-day operations, providing strategic political analysis, speech writing, policy development and the coordination of key campaign messaging. Responsibilities included:• Developed campaign themes and objectives and ensured these were reflected throughout all aspects of the campaign. • Maximized traditional and modern campaign methods on limited budgets including ensuring the campaign had a strong presence on social media both in terms of engaging with audience and visually by using graphics. • Produced all campaign press releases and developed strong links with key members of the press. • Organised campaign diary and events, including plotting out key speeches and policy interventions, press visits and a nationwide tour of Scotland. • Produced all campaign literature including mailings, letter and email, campaign leaflets and graphics.• Developed policies which reflected the campaign objectives and provided briefing notes to accompany press comments.
