I am an Associate Principal Investigator in Bioinformatics at the National Biodefense Analysis and Countermeasures Center at Ft. Detrick in Frederick, Maryland. Prior to my current position I was a Research Scientist at the ASU Biodesign Institute Center for Mechanisms of Evolution where I worked with Michael Lynch. At the Biodesign Institute my research focused on promoter evolution as well as the dynamics of cis-regulatory sequence and gene expression within populations. My research interests include the regulation of gene expression and I have used a combination of large-scale functional genomic, population genetic and computational approaches to study promoter architecture and cis-regulatory regions in eukaryotes, including animals.At Indiana University, working under Volker Brendel, I developed both software and functional genomics methods to identify and better understand promoters.
