Taylor Wessling is a Clinical Territory Manager at BioTAB Healthcare. Colleagues describe them as "Taylor served as a Learning Assistant (LA) for Principles of Chemistry I. LAs are undergraduate students who help faculty facilitate small group collaboration in large lecture classes. The role involves a preparatory meeting with chemistry faculty once a week, facilitating group activities via Zoom, and on-going training via the course “Pedagogy: Creating Collaborative Learning Environments.” I was fortunate to serve as Taylor’s instructor for the pedagogy course. Throughout the semester, Taylor actively applied her training to effectively engage students with the chemistry material including utilizing inclusive practices and a variety of communication techniques. Additionally, she showed compassion and empathy towards the students in her group and provided them with strategies to help them be successful.
