My job is to protect homebuilders — developers and contractors — by addressing issues at every stage of the construction process. I work with builders of all sizes, from the nation’s largest homebuilders to regional and custom builders. With one of Charleston's largest construction-focused team of lawyers, we are uniquely able to provide comprehensive legal support throughout the entire lifecycle of both single-family homes and multifamily projects. Our commercial real estate attorneys handle land acquisitions, entitlements, due diligence, and title review, as well as drafting deeds, easements, and corporate governing documents.Our construction attorneys draft, review, and negotiate contracts with homeowners and trades to protect builders at every step. In addition, we handle payment disputes and help our builders strategically respond to warranty claims. When disputes are unavoidable, we are seasoned litigators with a long history of resolving complex construction claims, whether through mediation, arbitration, or litigating in state or federal court. Our proactive approach emphasizes claims avoidance and risk management, helping builders minimize exposure to costly disputes.On a personal note, I am passionate about coaching and mentoring young athletes - coaching boys in basketball and baseball, and girls in volleyball. As a coach, my primary goal is to build the confidence of every player on my team. I let each player know that they are each unique and special in some way, and that they can accomplish almost anything with the right attitude.
