I led on building one of the most progressive and exciting Engineering teams, reporting directly to the CTO. My role focused on driving quality, reliability, autonomy, and predictability within Engineering, while supporting the company’s rapid growth. Using clear processes and a customer-focused approach, I ensure our tech roadmap aligns with business goals.In my first 6 months, I worked with engineering and product teams to improve testing, refinement methods, tooling, principles, and processes. These changes led to higher developer happiness, better delivery outcomes, and increased stack quality. We’ve also seen a consistent decline in customer-reported bugs, supporting customer retention.Beyond Engineering, I’ve represented Technology on the Risk Committee, contributing to Cyber Essentials and SOC 2 compliance. I also implemented a Managed Service Provider to improve device security and internal technical support. My focus on mitigating risk has led to additional responsibilities as acting CISO in this role.

I led a team of 18 Ruby, Perl, and Oracle developers in a transformation project, replacing legacy systems with Ruby on Rails, Salesforce, RingCentral, and NetSuite. I scaled the team from 7 to 18 with minimal disruption, managing growth while mitigating risks tied to Brooks’ Law. By optimising workflows and integrating efficient processes, I reduced operational bottlenecks and streamlined customer interactions. As a Ruby on Rails developer, I delivered key features and modules for our ATS, including custom-branded, public-facing recruitment portals tailored to client specifications.
