Talise Baker-Matsuoka Email and Phone Number
I am a student at USC Viterbi School of Engineering studying electrical engineering and a law and technology minor. I began working at YokyWorks as a tutor, teaching cohorts of dyslexic children math skills, often using multisensory methods of learning and assistive technology. Taking this experience, I honed my coding skills by designing an interactive tool for dyslexic children that used the Milan Method, which attempts to correlate simple sounds (phonemes) with letter pairings that people with dyslexia find difficult. This exposed me to the world of intellectual property and licensing, as the Yokyworks team and I licensed the Milan Method from its inventor. At Yohana, I pursued an internship in data analytics, working primarily on a project that correlated customer satisfaction data with reviews, ultimately demonstrating differences in the way men and women communicate enthusiasm about products. I'm also an avid horseback rider, competing in show jumping! These experiences have led me to a growing interest in the intersection between data, engineering, medical/assistive technologies, and intellectual property law. As a voracious learner, I hope to explore these interests as deeply as I can.
