This transformed the operation by eliminating manual spreadsheets and dramatically improving responsiveness/cost with digitization.

Achieved a 25% reduction in Cost of Poor Quality in 2002; and a 20% reduction in 2003, each equating to over $100M in direct P&L savings year over year by organizing teams tied directly to P&L cost centers such as rework and warranty. The Supplier Chargeback process recovered $7M in 2003.Improved our factory quality beyond 5.7 sigma (achieved 5.71 Sigma globally by April ’03). Achieved an 80% improvement in Delivered Quality out of our newly built, greenfield distribution center, and passed an ISO9003 audit in the first 9 months of operation. During that same time, we went from worst to best on our most critical customers’ scorecards, AT&T and Verizon. I built critical relationships with our customers establishing the First Article Inspection process to self-certify our quality, enabling AT&T to eliminate their incoming inspection.

Administered a $60M annual budget.Developed design for manufacturability (DF”x”) standards and drove these across all product platforms leading to 3 points of pre-tax profit for the cell phone division in 2002. Virtually eliminated cost of poor quality at launch through very high quality cellular phone product launches from 5.6 to 5.9 sigma, cutting defects by over 75%. Executed the first multi-site, simultaneous cell-phone launch with repeatable 5.7 sigma.
