In SOFRACO I managed many scheduled maintenance projects on Royal Australian Navy (RAN) ships including HMAS SUCCESS and HMAS SIRIUS. Throughout these projects, I liaised with RAN officers and officials along with supervising and directing technicians on the work to be carried out. As part of my position in SOFRACO I also had the opportunity to undertake an audit for the Sydney Harbour Foreshore Authority (SHFA) on the historic Pyrmont Bridge along with upgrading their Work Health and Safety (WHS) booklet for their workers.

I worked for CTL Composites as a project engineer working on testing projects for Aerospace, Wind Energy, Automotive, material suppliers, testing companies, biomedical companies and ESA (European Space Agency). As a project engineer, my role involved supervising test programs, drafting drawings, liaising with customers, generating test reports and participating in accreditation and customer audits, testing according to international standards (ASTM, EN, AITM). I found all these aspects of my job highly satisfying and relished the further opportunity of setting up and managing the Fatigue Department in later years in the company.

I assisted the engineers with their projects.Prototype testing of electrical insulators and components, providing reports on these test for feedback to the design engineers, running quality control tests to a set of standards and produced reports using internal quality systems, Designing a fitting to hold the test sample in the Instron testing machine assisted research and development engineers in design process.All tests were run to a given set of standards (ISO, ASTM). I was also exposed to high volume manufacturing in this plant.
