Thanks to the Bright Futures Academic Scholarship program and the Machen Florida Opportunity Scholarship program, I am currently working on earning my bachelor's degree in sociology, a subject that is very important to me as I am a full-time first-generation Black college student, from a family of Haitian immigrants. I focus most of my time on my education, my full-time employment at Chipotle Mexican Grill as a Service Manager/ Food Safety Leader, and as a member of Black Women Leaders in Law, African Student Union, Club Creole, and CaribSA at the University of Florida.I look forward to graduating from my undergraduate program early and then focusing my attention on taking the LSAT and applying for law school. As a lawyer, I intend to exercise my passion for advocacy for marginalized groups within our legal system, as well as promote pro-bono social work and social activism in order to help our society progress towards equity and inclusion. I hope to work in more professional leadership settings where I can learn new skills and collaborate with other community leaders to create real change in areas such as immigration, racial discrimination, sexism, criminal justice, housing inequality, victim support/advocacy, and health disparities.
