Responsible for all Quality Control Issues related to all ASME code welding activities, AWS structural work, ACI concrete work, dimensional inspection of forms and foundations, alignment of pumps and motors. Responsibilities also include the generation of weld maps, assignment of NDE requirements as per ASME and client requirements. Set-up and over site of rod room and rod control requirements, testing of welders per Section IX and maintenance of welder continuity. Performing inspections and maintaining documentation for review by Authorized Inspector and client for conformance to codes and specifications.

Nacoqdoches Generating Facility

Work on this project was with a third-party inspection company responsible to client for all Quality Control Issues related to all ASME code welding activities. The team of inspectors I worked with was responsible for the testing of welders per Section IX and the maintenance of continuity for the client requirements. We also weld mapped all piping systems, performed visual inspection of all welds and documented. After visual acceptance performed all code required inspections such as magnetic particle inspection, liquid penetrant inspection and radiographic inspection and interpretation. All NDE was performed as per requirements of Section V

Plant Mcdonough, Georgia

Responsible for all ASME Section I, B31.1 code welding activities, ACI, NEC, API, AWS code activities for construction of the two on one Nooter-Erikson HRSG for the McDonough Power-Plant located in Smyrna GA. Construction scope of work included two boiler buildings, cooling water tower, water treatment facility, two steam turbines, MCC facility, electrical distribution grid and natural gas tie-ins. Activities included oversight and monitoring of radiographic inspections, post-weld heat treatment, welding, welder certification, assignment of NDE requirements, structural and civil inspections, electrical terminations and torquing. On projects of this size discipline engineers and quality work closely together to ensure quality expectations are achieved. We performed surveillance and audits of sub-contractors compliance and performance with contract requirements. I was the liaison with plant management during P&ID walk-downs for compliance with codes, contract drawings and specifications and local jurisdiction prior to hydrostatic testing of systems. As the Welding Director for the local responsibilities was the education of apprentices in all aspects of the requirements of becoming a journeyman ironworker. Taught welding in the SMAW, FCAW disciplines and tested and certified welders per the AWS welding code. Training classes included jobsite safety, the use of man lifting equipment, steel cutting processes, crane safety and rigging techniques, joining such as bolting and welded connections.
