I worked for Atos IT Services on the BBC account where I was responsible for the design, maintenance, security & troubleshooting of the current BBC production Exchange 2003 and Exchange 2010 environments, and surrounding technologies (Enterprise Vault, Faxination, etc...). I also worked on the ongoing Exchange 2003 to Exchange 2010 Migration project, and the automation of various parts of the administration, configuration, monitoring and auditing of the environment through the development of tools using PowerShell scripts.

In my time so far at Citi I have been heavily involved in the design and roll out of the company's Exchange 2010 feature preview (a limited scale evaluation of the latest version of Microsoft's Exchange platform, offered to various business groups for an appraisal of the new platform features). Following the success of the feature preview, I was also involved in the planning, design and roll out of the full Exchange 2010 production infrastructure, in particular I was SME for the Hub Transport Exchange role and as such designed and implemented the company's Hub Transport server infrastructure. This involved producing server designs for the various Hub Transport requirements such as journalling / regulatory requirements, separation of application routing & routing to and from the SMTP backbone. Also stress testing the HT roles from the SMTP Backbone layer, utilizing a custom written perl script to send controlled amounts of email at the servers to test variations of Hub Transport with various auxiliary software installed.Aside from Exchange 2010 activities my principal role has been the automation of the configuration and auditing of Exchange 2007 and 2010 via the extensive use of PowerShell scripting. I am responsible for the writing and maintenance of all the configuration and audit scripts for Citi's Exchange 2007 and 2010 (and related products) production environments, via collaboration with Citi's Messaging Operations team. I was also involved in the decommissioning of the pre-existing Exchange 2000 / 2003 infrastructure, a requirement for the Exchange 2010 feature pilot. This involved the migration of Citi's Public Folder infrastructure from Exchange 2000 / 2003 to Exchange 2007, removal of the RUS etc...Aside from Exchange and PowerShell, I was responsible for the Symantec Enterprise Vault evaluation, as well as the integration, automation and configuration of Legato's Networker and Microsoft's DPM products to provide backup integration and reporting.

I am currently responsible for all of Symantec's SMTP infrastructure as well as being Postmaster. This currently entails an external layer of Sendmail servers as well as Symantec Brightmail Gateway and Symantec Brightmail Traffic Shaper appliances. Also running as Sendmail milters on these servers are the Symantec Brigthmail Anti Spam Product, as well as the open source MIMEDefang software. These systems all run at the gateway / internet facing zone.I am also responsible for the SMTP routing layer that runs behind the gateway systems. These servers route email traffic to and from the Gateway and internal Exchange / Lotus Notes internal Enterprise messaging systems, as well as moving emails from other zones in the various datacenters. These servers are all running the Exim MTA.I also maintain a number of seperate systems such as a group of Postfix Servers that run an "in house" developed application for mass mailing marketing campaigns etc. Also running on various other servers in the SMTP environment are: ListServ, Symantec 8260 appliances, Qpopper, SquirellMail, Fedora-DS, OpenLDAP amongst others.I have also written and maintain Perl / Python / Shell scripts that are currently being used in the production environment for various monitoring / administration / alerting tasks. I still maintain PowerShell scripts for Symantec'c Exchange environment.

I was responsible for the deployment and administration of Symantec's Global Exchange infrastructure (around 27,000 users) - with experience of Exchange 5.0, 5.5, 2000 and 2003. Currently Symantec runs Exchange 2003 across the board - with 2 node (active / passive) VERITAS Cluster Server clusters for all mailbox servers, as well as the the following Symantec products - Symantec Enterprise Vault and Symantec Anti-Virus for Microsoft Exchange.Also running various Quest tools for mailbox recovery, usage reporting, inter-domain mailbox migrations etc.I am also a fully certified MCITP on Exchange 2007, and will be upgrading to Exchange 2010 once the exams are available. I wrote various monitoring scripts for the Exchange servers in PowerShell and VBScipt - these are syill in use today. I was involved in the high level design and inplementation of the Exchange builds, and worked with 3rd line support engineers at Microsoft and Symantec to resolve extremely complicated Exchange / Windows / VCS issues.

I was responsible for the running a small LAN that was being used by the Prudential to clean up their various customer databases. These databases were held on various legacy Mainframe systems that were up to 20 years old. I had to export this database info from the Mainframe systems into a Microsoft SQL 6.5 database, running on NT 4.0 and then make the data available to the Data Cleaning staff for actual data processing. Also had a hand in setting up a complimentary OCS scanning system to try and further automate the data cleaning process.
