Current• Facilitated fundamental research supporting FCE’s first joint project with ExxonMobil Research & Engineering using molten carbonate fuel cells for CO2 capture.• Designed and implemented electrochemical experiments that revealed a drastic change in cathode mechanism unique to this application• Greatly improved cell and stack-level performance and stability through engineering the cathode, electrolyte, and current collectors• Identified the rate-limiting phenomena using a physics-based electrode model with Python• Highlighted results and data analysis in weekly presentations and technical reports both internally and to ExxonMobil• Analyzed the electrochemical performance of surface-coated solid oxide fuel cell cathodes via impedance spectroscopy to characterize and understand drivers for degradation
