I trained for a year in every area of the Accounting department including Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Warranty Administration, auditing, posting and booking deals, applying for and claiming incentives, reviewing and cleaning up schedules, reconciling accounts, and co-managed accounting personnel. For the next three years, I worked directly with the Controller who was a Certified Public Accountant (CPA) and a 40-year accounting veteran, 30 years of which were in the automotive industry. He mentored me in many areas including GAAP, tax, bookkeeping, depreciation, reporting, 401(k), insurance, banking, investing, profit and loss, chart of accounts, complaince, regulations, and financial statements.
