I collaborate on studying ultrafast processes in materials at SLAC using the Linac Coherent Lightsource (LCLS), and the Ultrafast Electron Diffraction beamline (UED). Further characterization of sample is done at the Advanced Light Source (ALS) at Lawrence Berkeley National Laboratory, Stanford Synchrotron Radiation Lightsource (SSRL) at SLAC National Accelerator Laboratory, and the Advanced Photon Source (APS) at Argonne National Laboratory. The focus of my disertation was studying non-equilibrium phonons in metallic thin films following a femtosecond laser pulse using the UED beamline at SLAC.
I was the group's expert on data acquisition hardware and software. I was also an analyst for the data that was collected. I helped to create and test our flagship product called a Photoluminescent Solar Concentrator. Testing has shown that building a greenhouse out of these devices can improve plant growth and harvest energy more efficiently than plain silicon solar panels. I created prototype devices for NASA collaborations. I have developed prototype photoluminescent windows for lunar greenhouses. This work was shared in one talk and two poster sessions. I also developed prototype solar array shading screens using polymer dispersed liquid crystals (PDLCs).
