Managed all aspects of this economic development program that enhances business opportunities and improves the business environment in New York’s Diamond District. Initiated and managed District services and programs including public safety, area beautification, advertising and public relations, capital improvements and security guard training program run in partnership with the New York City Police Department. Prepared annual report and budget, which are presented to BID membership as well as local officials to inform them of the District’s needs and effectiveness of the operation. Successfully negotiated renewal of the initial five-year contract with the New York City Department of Small Business Services and received an excellent rating from this agency.Negotiated with New York City government officials to secure grants to install distinctive capital improvements which enhance the physical aspect and security of the Diamond District. Established innovative Jewelers Bill of Rights—consumer reference guide for purchasing diamonds-- in partnership with New York City Department of Consumer Affairs which ultimately lends legitimacy to diamond dealers and spearheaded a partnership between the 47th Street BID and Zagat Survey to develop a shoppers’ guide for jewelry consumers.
