CurrentPerforming A Valuable Service...To both the patient and the pickup and destination departments that involves:The physical and mental ability to carry out the responsibilities of the basic transport itself in a responsible and time-efficient manner focused on safety and the patient-and-family-centered-care (PFCC) philosophy.Interacting with the patient in a caring and supportive manner as dictated by the patient, the circumstances, and the judgment of the Porter on a transport-by-transport basis.Interacting and communicating with nurses, doctors, and testing personnel at the various pickup and destination points in a supportive and helpful manner that promotes mutual respect, cooperation, and good relations between departments, which serves not only ourselves as members of the same team with the same PFCC focus, but ultimately and primarily the patients with respect to the quality and level of care and attention they receive.Problem-solving and troubleshooting as needed on a call-by-call basis to ensure the smooth flow and timely completion of all assigned transports throughout any shift of service.Carrying out any and all other non-patient-transport related duties received during the course of a shift of service in a responsible, competent, and timely manner.Performing and carrying out all of these duties and responsibilities under continuously changing and often chaotic and stress-charged circumstances in a calm, responsible, and mature manner with constant consideration being given to hospital and departmental policies, procedures, and protocols regarding conduct, privacy, safety, and the rights of all those encountered (patients, family members, visitors, and teammates throughout the hospital alike) to be treated in a friendly, courteous, and respectful manner with an eye, always, towards the preservation of basic human dignity.
