About Thomas Bridge

I am a dedicated scientist with a strong background in molecular engineering and drug discovery. My academic journey began at the University of East Anglia, where I earned my PhD which was focused on the development of photoactive nanobodies. My research at the university was focused on the genetic incorporation of photocaged non-canonical amino acids into nanobodies' paratopes, generating a novel photoactive nanobody that allowed for precise spatial and temporal control over antibody-antigen interactions. The significance of this work was underscored by its publication as a first-author paper in Angewandte Chemie in 2019.Building on this foundation, I continued my academic pursuits at Tohoku University, Japan, where I was awarded an academic ROIS scholarship to advance my expertise. During my time there, my research was dedicated to enhancing nanobody affinity, particularly in the context of an anti-EGFR nanobody, using innovative phage display techniques.Returning to the University of East Anglia for my postdoctoral work, I furthered my exploration of molecular biology by engaging in the directed evolution of a novel aminoacyl tRNA synthetase which contributed to the development of dual unnatural amino acid incorporated nanobodies. The significance of this work was recognized through the publication of a first-author paper in Nature Chemical Biology in 2023.Currently, I serve as a Senior Scientist at Keltic Pharma Therapeutics, where my work revolves around leading the development of the PEPSMOL drug discovery platform. This position has allowed me to continue to pursue my passion for innovation and molecular engineering, with a focus on bringing impactful therapies to the forefront of the biotechnology and pharmaceutical industries. If you are interested in connecting or engaging in discussions related to cutting-edge biotechnology and drug discovery, please feel free to connect with me. I welcome opportunities for collaboration and the exchange of ideas to drive scientific advancement.
